Die von Adorno angeführten Gründe für diese Entwicklung und ein möglicher Ausgang aus dieser Dilemma-Situation sollen ebenfalls an dieser Stelle angeführt werden. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit stellt sozusagen einen try out der Thesen Adornos dar. Zu diesem Zweck soll der Inhalt der Vorabendsendung „Verbotene Liebe“ zunächst analysiert und anschließend in Bezug zur kritischen Theorie bewertetet werden. Den Abschluss der Arbeit bildet ein Fazit, welches die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse kritisch bewertet.

Bevor ich im Anschluss versuchen möchte, diese Frage näher zu erörtern, gilt es zu Beginn drei Begrifflichkeiten zu definieren, welche in der Fachliteratur bezüglich »Prominenz« verwendet werden: Der Begriff »Prominenz« an sich, »Elite« und »Publikum«. was once bedeutet »prominent«, wer gilt als »Prominenter«? Nur mittels einer klaren Definition kann die Frage nach den Ursachen beantwortet werden. Hierbei wird in einem Prozess auf die Öffentlichkeit eingewirkt; die Menschen konsumieren diese Informationen als »Publikum«, folglich ist auch dieser Begriff genauer zu erläutern. Bevor ich nach diesen Begriffsbestimmungen die Entstehung von Prominenz aufzeige, möchte ich kurz auf die Unterschiede von Prominenten in ihrem Erscheinungsbild eingehen sowie die Selektionsprozesse erläutern, welche vor dem Einfluss der Medien wirken. Erst dann erfolgt die genaue Hinterfragung der Rolle von Publikum und Massenmedien im Prominenzierungsprozess sowie ihrer engen Verknüpfung miteinander. Ferner soll jedoch auch mittels eines kurzen soziobiologischen Exkurses gezeigt werden, dass dies nicht die beiden einzigen Größen sind, welche in diesem Prozess von Bedeutung sind.
